This year’s brief was the same as the year before, but instead of the main focus being the announcement of the acquisition of Scripps, we really wanted to highlight how the two companies were now one. So last year, we illustrated the globe morphing with the different genres of each company’s top networks, and this year we are taking you inside that world where everyone lives harmoniously.

This year’s main focus was the the coming announcement of Discovery acquiring Scripps International. This is conceptually visualized by showing the globe morphing with the different genres of each companies top networks.

When the announcement came of Discovery’s acquisition of Scripps International, a rebrand of the company was asked for. As Discovery Communications transitioned to Discovery Inc., the globe key art became the face of our new corporate identity.

After the rebrand of Discovery Inc., the head of HR wished to roll out a campaign illustrating her corporate principle values. These custom illustrations were created to highlight each specific value’s description.

As happens often in this industry, the first round of artwork was killed for this project. Thus, birthing Discovery Corporate Principle Values Vol. 2. While maintaining the same conceptual mindset as the first round, the client wanted the posters to feel “edgier and more modern.” Using photos and bright duo-tones creates a more modern design without losing the whimsicalness that the illustrations held.
